introduction

During numerous trips to North America it became apparent to us that the Canadian breeding was leaving carcases with a much higher muscle content and the females had a far superior milking potential which was essential in weaning heavier calves.

In looking to expand our genetic base, and complement our home grown genetics we came across a bull - IPU REDWOOD CAPT - who was stamping his progeny exceptionally well. He was leaving good length of body with depth of rib and expressing lots of thickness over the top along with depth and thickness through the hindquarters.

We were fortunate enough to purchase Miss MRL 524 at the Canadian Agribition National Female Sale in November 1999 as an in calf heifer to IPU Redwood Capt. Due to the strict quarantine rules we did not get Miss MRL back in the U.K until October 2000 by which time she had produced Dynasty.

Dynasty carries all of his father’s traits, his solid pattern is emphasised by the tremendous depth of rib that carries back through fullness of flank into a long hindquarter and combined with his unique Pedigree makes him quite a unique bull.

Due to Foot & Mouth restrictions imposed upon us in 2001 we entered Miss MRL into an intensive embryo-flushing programme. As a result we now have embryo calves on the ground, which we are very excited about. We’ve used Dynasty on both Pedigree and Commercial cattle and some of his calves are coming through now, and these too are showing great potential.
